Suffolk Class AA Championships

Bay Shore shutout Centereach 6-0 on Monday, May 20th in the first round of the Suffolk Class AA Championships. Michelle DeVito pitched a one-hit, complete game shutout, while striking out 11 and walking four to lead No. 1 Bay Shore (19-1) over No. 17 Centereach (11-9) in its Suffolk Class AA first round win. Kaly Alzate went 3-for-4, with a triple, two RBIs and a run. The Marauders host No. 8 Riverhead (15-5) in the second round at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 22nd.

Bay Shore Defeats Northport

Bay Shore defeated Northport 13-1 on Wednesday, May 15th. In Bay Shore's final regular season game they finished the year strong with a 13-1 victory over Northport to finish the year 18-1, the best record in New York State. Bay Shore was clicking on all sides of the ball starting in the pitching circle. Michelle DeVito took a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning before surrendering a double to the first batter she faced. DeVito finished the game giving up 3 hits while striking out 15 Northport batters, including the first 11 batters she faced. That gave DeVito 20 straight strike outs between the matchup with Northport and the previous game against Central Islip. The offense was front and center for Bay Shore in a big way as well. Kaly Alzate stayed hot again smashing her first varsity homerun deep over the right-center field fence to give Bay Shore a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Alzate would finish with 2 hits on the day. Several Bay Shore batters would finish with multiple hits including: Giana Panariello (3), Alex Passante (2), Ana Vargas (2), and Courtney Syrett (3) including a three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 13-0. Bay Shore's next game will be their first playoff game at home on Monday, May 20th most likely at 4pm. The opponent will be determined in a game between the 16th and 17th seeds in Suffolk County on Saturday.

Bay Shore Defeats Connetquot

In a rain makeup, Bay Shore clinched another League II title by defeating the Connetquot T-Birds by a final score of 10-0 on Friday, May 10th, improving their record to 15-1 overall for the year. Michelle DeVito pitched another excellent game, spreading out three hits over seven innings while striking out 8 in the shutout victory. She also went 2-3 with 2 RBI at the plate. Quite possibly the biggest story of the game came from freshman Kaly Alzate. In her first game back since missing a month with an injury, Alzate went 3-4 with three RBI in the game, picking up right where she had left off at the beginning of the year.

Bay Shore Defeats Half Hollow Hills East

Bay Shore defeated Half Hollow Hills East 18-4 on Monday, May 6th. Giana Panariello went 4-for-5, with two doubles, three RBIs and a run to lead Bay Shore (14-1) in its League II win. Courtney Syrett was 2-for-4, with a two-run homer, three RBIs and two runs. Kim Goldsmith was 4-for-4, with a double, an RBI and three runs.

Bay Shore Shuts Out Ward Melville

Bay Shore defeated Ward Melville 6-0 on Tuesday, April 30th. Michelle DeVito pitched six innings, allowing one hit and no runs, while striking out 15 and walking three in Bay Shore's (12-1) League II/I crossover win. DeVito went 3-for-4, with two RBIs. Lady Marauders Clinch a Playoff Spot

The Bay Shore girls softball team clinched a spot in the 2013 playoffs on Thursday, April 25th by defeating the Brentwood Indians by a final score of 16-3 while improving their record to 10-1. Sarah Edwards and Killeen Martin both had perfect days at the plate, each going 3-3. Edwards had two doubles in the effort. Several players had multiple hits in the contest, including Courtney Syrett and Jamie Soldinger who each went 2-3 in the game. Michelle DeVito added in another two hits as well to keep her hot streak at the plate going. She also struck out 12 Brentwood batters in five innings for the win. Bay Shore next plays Monday April 29th at home against the Sachem East Flaming Arrows.

Bay Shore Shuts Out Connetquot

Bay Shore defeated Connetquot 4-0 on Monday, April 9th. In a battle of two undefeated teams, the Bay Shore Lady Marauders were able to shutout the Connetquot Thunderbirds behind senior pitcher Michelle DeVito. DeVito did it on both sides of the ball for Bay Shore. In the pitching circle, she was dominant, striking out 11 Connetquot hitters while only giving up two walks and three hits. At the plate, she started off the scoring in the top of the first by driving in Courtney Syrett and Kaly Alzate with a two out double. DeVito would finish the day 2-3 overall at the plate. Several other players also had impressive days at the plate. Alzate added a big insurance run for Bay Shore with a two out double that hit the base of the right field fence that scored Syrett (2-3 on the day including an intentional walk) from first. Senior Killeen Martin had the other RBI with a run scoring single that brought home junior Sarah Edwards (3-4). Martin (2-4) would have had another RBI on a ground rule double had the ball not rolled under the fence in right field.

Bay Shore Defeats Half Hollow Hills East

Bay Shore defeated Half Hollow Hills East 19-3 on Tuesday, April 2nd and improved to a 2-0 record. The game wasn't off to a good start for the Lady Marauders when they fell behind 2-0 on a homerun to the second batter of the game. Bay Shore rallied in the bottom of the first for four runs including an RBI triple by third baseman Kaly Alzate and a two run homerun by pitcher Michelle DeVito. DeVito would fall a single short of the cycle adding in a run scoring triple and run scoring double later in the game. Giana Panariello also added in a homerun midway through the game as well that broke open the score. Nine different batters in the Bay Shore lineup all had hits for the team. They next play Connetquot High School on Monday, April 8th.

Varsity Softball - Bay Shore Defeats Lindenhurst

Bay Shore defeated Lindenhurst 13-1 on Saturday, March 30th. BSHS Senior Michelle DeVito pitched all six innings with one earned run, three hits allowed, four walks and 12 strikeouts to lead Bay Shore 1-0 in League II. BSMS Eighth-grader Rachel Mihlstin went 2-for-2 with two walks, a triple and four RBIs in her first career varsity game. BSHS Senior Courtney Syrett went 2-for-5 with a solo homerun and two RBIs.
