League Championship

The Bay Shore Girls Track Team got back to its winning ways, by taking the League 2 Championships at Suffolk CC. After a heart breaking loss to Connetquot a year ago, and our twenty-six year streak ended, the 2018 team had something to prove. Connetquot and Smithtown East were the other contending teams, and we would have our hands full throughout the meet! Sophomore Roshni Singh would get us off to a good start! She won the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:33.99. Two freshman also scored for us in the 3k. Sophia Trifoli ran a seasonal best of 11:25.43 to place third, with Zoe Feigel placing sixth running a pb 11:38.25. The top six score in each event. In the 55 meter dash, sophomore Josie Fargas would run 7.86 to make the finals. She would place sixth running 7.88. In the 1000 meter run, junior Catie Surian placed third, running a pb 3:14.04. Freshman Malia Fowler would place fifth running 3:20.00. Sabrina Simonetti would run a pb 3:24.22. In the 55 hurdles, junior Cheyenne Felician would run a pb 9.40 in the semis, and qualify for the finals! Erica Martinez just missed the finals by a spot, but ran a pb 9.55. In the finals of the hurdles, Cheyenne Felician ran great, placing third with another pb 9.29! In the 600 meter run, Nia Singer won with a time of 1:39.66. Sophomore Lexi Grassia would place fourth, with a pb 1:43.73. Freshman Ruth Gonzalez also ran a pb 1:49.73. In the triple jump, Victoria Obasa would place sixth jumping 33'0". The score after the first six events: Smithtown East 56; Bay Shore 47; Connetquot 29. In the 1500 meter run, Roshni Singh won her second event, with a fast 4:53.02. Anna Pirkl ran a seasonal best of 5:08.01 to place fifth! Junior Keda Zepherin would also run pb 5:23.29. In the 1500 meter walk, junior Parker Ahmad would walk almost forty seconds faster than she ever had, placing fourth with a time of 8:06.72. Grace Pirkl battled to the finish line, but ended up seventh! Her time was a pb 8:20.97. Freshman Molly Roy also had a pb 9:15.51. We did not score in the 300 meter dash. The scores after all the track events, plus the triple jump were: Smithtown East 67; Bay Shore 63; Connetquot 45.

The relays would start before the long jump, high jump and shot put were completed. In the 4 x 400 relay, Cheyenne Felician, Lexi Grassia, Malia Fowler, and Nia Singer ran 4:16.69 for the win. Connetquot would place third, with Smithtown East sixth! The long jump was now completed. Erica Martinez would jump a pb 16'2.5" to place fifth. Scores: Bay Shore 75; Smithtown East 72; Connetquot 57. In the 4 x 200 relay, Connetquot would win, but our team of Josie Fargas, N'Jeri Marner, Falan Boyd, and Nia Singer placed third running 1:52.52. We would never be behind in the score for the rest of the meet! The shot put results came in, with sophomore Caitlin Christie throwing a pb 35'5.5", to place second. Imo Aghomon would place fifth with a seasonal best of 33'9.5". April Sexton also threw a pb 25'11". Weight event Coach Vin Rucci had his throwers ready!!! In the high jump, sophomore Rebecca Christie would place second with a jump if 4'8". Seventh grader Lauryn Piccirelli jumped 4'8" and placed third on misses in the competition! This is the second time Lauryn has cleared 4'8", which is the highest jump in NYS for a seventh grader! It is also a seventh grade school record for Bay Shore!!! Falan Boyd cleared 4'6" to tie for fifth! In the final event , the 4 x 800 relay of Catie Surian, Sophia Trifoli, Brianna Christie, and Roshni Singh won with a time if 10:03.88.
