Dear Bay Shore-Brightwaters Community,

It is with great sadness that I write to you to inform you of the passing of one of our faculty members. This afternoon, we were notified of the passing of Bay Shore High School Science teacher Mr. Christopher Loewen. 

I join the Bay Shore High School faculty and staff, Mr. Loewen’s students, and the larger Bay Shore Schools community in mourning his loss. Our thoughts are with Mr. Loewen’s family and the Bay Shore High School family. 

If you feel that your child needs to speak to someone about Mr. Loewen’s passing, support staff will be available this week to speak with students. There is also information available on our webpage about how to speak to children about grief and loss. 

Please join me and the rest of the district in keeping Mr. Loewen’s family in your thoughts.
